With everything in place, it was time to get ourselves ready. All the hair and makeup in the world could not have prepared me better than how I ended up starting my day. I woke up early around 6am fearing the humidity and dark clouds looming, and went downstairs to find Linda to ask her to pray with me. The weather and forecast were not in my favor, and so I needed some prayer for either a change in weather or change in attitude.
I found her and another woman from church, Helen, on the porch preparing for a women's prayer meeting- I had forgotten about the Friday morning meetings. I decided to sit down and join the prayer meeting and short devotional in Romans. It wasn't scheduled on my wedding day checklist, and maybe it wasn't the extra hour of sleep a bride should have, but it was the best way I could have started my wedding day. As my energy and heart were refocused to the meaning of this day, my spirits lifted. I realized it was not about having a "perfect" wedding or "perfect" weather for "perfect" photos. Today marked the beginning of something new, a gift from the Lord. As Aaron and I would come together today and become one flesh, we would be a new creation, perfectly designed as an instrument for God's glory.
After praying in faith for me, I thanked the women and moved on to meet my bridesmaids and wedding planner. It wasn't until later, standing at the altar actually, looking out over our guests out the windows behind them, that I realized God had granted me a beautiful sunny day anyway. My spirits had been so lifted and refocused that I hadn't been worrying over the weather, and had almost missed the blessing God gave us anyway. But in that moment, I was encouraged again in the power of prayer and faith in the Lord.
Becca was irreplaceable in all of this; she did my hair and hair for all the bridesmaids.
We thought a dance party was in order once hair styles were completed. #bridesmaids

With a final prayer from my bridesmaids, it was time. It was time to walk down the aisle toward my groom and into his arms for the rest of our lives. It was time to go before all our family and friends and pledge our lives to one another and to God. It was time to become one flesh in order to better serve the Lord as man and wife.
